This is my 5th year undertaking walking challenges and raising money for Walk the Walk. Following last year's 3 Land Challenge (London, Edinburgh and Iceland) and the Thames Path Challenge 50km I'm challenging myself even more this year.
The catchy strapline for this year's adventures is "5 marathons in 5 weeks" but it's actually 6 in 7 weeks. I start with Peterborough marathon on 14th April, then onto Belfast marathon on 5th May, London Moonwalk marathon on 11th May, Liverpool Rock n Roll marathon on 26th May and then the Edinburgh Over the Moon double marathon (52.4 miles!!!) on 8th June. Later in the year I'll be undertaking the Thames Path Challenge 100km.
So you're probably thinking that I'm mad and wondering why I'm doing all of this. Having had breast cancer myself in 2014 and seeing first hand how some of the money donated helps patients having chemotherapy keep their hair with sponsored cold cap units and being supported by the Penny Brohn Centre who Walk the Walk fund every year, I know that your money is spent wisely. I never expected to need the support of a charity but during my illness the support I received from many charities was invaluable. Walk the Walk make grants to fund research, support centres, diagnosis improvements, cold cap units and many other areas that are helping the fight against breast cancer.
I value every donation made and thank you from the bottom of my heart xxx
